Maltravieso Cave offers cave paintings dating back from about 25,000 years.
Cáceres was founded in 25 b. c. by Cayo Normado Flaco. It was invaded by the Muslims and reconquered by the Christians and from 1229 the construction of palaces and buildings start, especially from the 14th to the 16th century, giving a fine example of the power of this town at that time. There are monuments such as Santa Maria 's Church; San Francisco , the Episcopal Palace, Veletas Palace.
Some of the buildings in the old quarters have been converted into museums which invite us to know about its history. Leisure also has an important role to play in Cáceres so we can find cinemas and pub in the old town.
